2005 EHDI Survey
The survey of 2005 is currently in progress and will be published in this website.
2004 EHDI Survey
On May 2005, the International
Working Group on Childhood Hearing (IGCH) started to collect data on the degree
of implementation of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs
worldwide for the period January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004. The 2004 EHDI questionnaire
parallels what the EHDI
team of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities
of the CDC in Atlanta is currently developing.
The purpose of the survey is to obtain EHDI data in a consistent manner in order to
provide baseline information and advocate for an ever increasing widespread
implementation of EHDI in all its components.
The 2004 EHDI Survey has two parts that include:
- Part A: Screening, Diagnostic, and Intervention data
- Number of infants screened for hearing loss, received audiological
evaluation, identified with hearing loss, and enrolled in early
intervention
- Number of infants screened for hearing loss, received audiological
evaluation, identified with hearing loss, and enrolled in early
intervention
- Part B: Demographic data, Legislation, and Severity of identified hearing losses
- Percentage of hospitals/facilities performing universal newborn hearing
screening (UNHS) or targeted newborns hearing screening (NHS), current
legislation supporting EHDI programs in the reporting region/Country, type
and severity of identified hearing losses.
- Percentage of hospitals/facilities performing universal newborn hearing
screening (UNHS) or targeted newborns hearing screening (NHS), current
legislation supporting EHDI programs in the reporting region/Country, type
and severity of identified hearing losses.
Please note that the information provided in the Summary of 2004 EHDI Survey is estimated and is subject to change because the process of collecting data from respondents is ongoing. Updates will be published on this website when additional information will be available.
Also, please note that data from the Summary of 2004 EHDI Survey is not directly comparable to information reported in the 2003 EHDI Survey because a new questionnaire was used to collect 2004 data.
2003 EHDI Survey
The 2003 EHDI Survey was started on April 2004. The core question of this survey includes:- Presence of UNHS or targeted NHS programs in the reporting region/Country
